INTRA-SEASONAL VARIABILITY OF THE TROPICAL ATMOSPHERE

For my MSc thesis research, with Professor Eli Tziperman, I studied how nonlinear air-sea interaction might conspire to force intraseasonal variability in the tropical atmosphere. Within an idealized modeling study we conducted (Solodoch et al 2011; JAS), that came about due to the incidental fullfilment of resonance conditions between different types of atmospheric waves (principaly, equatorial Yanai and Kelvin waves) in nonlinear interaction through "wind-induced surface heat excahge".
